When we're told that we should be vulnerable, it can be quite intimidating for many individuals. However, being vulnerable doesn't mean we have to constantly express our emotions and weaknesses. Instead, vulnerability is about acknowledging our mistakes, admitting when we don't understand or know something, and seeking help when needed. As leaders, we often feel the pressure to have all the answers and be right at all times, but projecting such an attitude can negatively impact those around us. It creates a climate where others also feel the need to appear infallible and avoid admitting their uncertainties. Consequently, this hinders open communication and the truth-sharing process. Embracing vulnerability in a meeting, saying 'I don't know' or 'I don't understand, can someone explain it to me again,' actually fosters a supportive environment where others can also feel comfortable seeking clarification and sharing valuable information.
